A
Pastoral Letter to the West Mission Community
Dear Friends
Oppenheimer, the atomic scientist once
completed a lecture as follows; the best way to send an idea, is to
wrap it up in a person. He copied the idea from God, who so longs to
draw us to himself that he gave us his son, to teach us what love is.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us reflect on the manner of his
coming. Jesus comes to us, like us, thrust defencelessly and without
dignity into a hostile world, little, weak and helpless entrusted to
human parents for care and protection. He is called Jesus, because he
would save his people from their sins: those sins resulting from the
inadequacy of our loving … if we loved one another we
wouldnt be selfish, wouldnt hate, hang on to grudges, insist on our own
way whatever the outcome.
If were waiting for God to rectify the wrongs
of the world, Hes already accomplished it in the gift of Jesus, the
rest depends on us. God expects us to join in. As we begin a new year
let Jesus the baby draw you to himself and unite us in the common bonds
of love. Isnt that what he expects of us?
I wish you every blessing for 2012.
